Do you offer wedding cake tastings?

We offer Bridal Sample Boxes 2-3 times per year- October, February, April/May. Dates are advertised through social media, so be sure you follow us @cake_bytaryn.

We do not currently offer sit down tasting and consults- this is not feasible with our business model.

How much cake should I order?

Allow one slice of cake per guest; if you have alternative desserts, in addition to the cake, we suggest ordering 30% less servings than expected guests.

Do you offer fondant wedding cakes?

As a buttercream primary bakery, we do not offer fondant covered cakes at this time. We can use fondant for decoration on our coveted buttercream cakes.

Why can't I have cream cheese frosting covering my wedding cake?

Wedding cakes are meant to be enjoyed as a dessert, also as decoration during your reception. As these cakes tend to sit out for many hours; as we do not use preservatives in our products we are not able to use cream cheese frosting for FoodSafe reasons.

Can I have a black/vibrant coloured cake?

While we can achieve a variety of colours, we would suggest sticking with lighter colour options to avoid staining guest teeth for photos and to ensure the best tasting buttercream possible.

Do you offer Gluten Friendly or Vegan items?

We do not offer certified Gluten Free, or Vegan, items at this time.

How far in advance should I order?

We would suggest reserving your date 10-12 months in advance for May-September weddings and events. All other orders can generally be accommodated with a few weeks notice.

You don't have a storefront- where can I pick-up my order?

Taryn works out of a private kitchen- closed to the public. All wedding orders require delivery,  beginning at $50 with the price increasing based on venue location, time required to set-up, and sensitivity of the cake/desserts ordered. 

​

We offer complimentary local (within 10km of downtown Victoria) delivery of celebration cakes during the "off" season.

Cake by Taryn services south of the Malahat. If you would like our goodies for your up island wedding, please get in touch and we can arrange a friend or family member to bring them up island for you!
